Dr Alice Gorman is an internationally recognised leader in the field of space archaeology and author of the award-winning book Dr Space Junk vs the Universe: Archaeology and the Future (MIT Press, 2019).
In the webinar Alice will talk about her research which focuses on the archaeology and heritage of space exploration, including space junk, planetary landing sites, off-earth mining, and space habitats. She will also talk about how in collaboration with NASA and Chapman University, she is part of a team conducting the first archaeological study of the International Space Station.
Chiara Chiesa is an International PR and Space Technology Commercialization Transfer advisor. She helps to infuse space technology into the commercial sector, connecting people, start-ups, companies, and institutions within the aerospace and New Space domain.
In the webinar Chiara will talk about her work on space PR and technology, the NASA Space Apps Challenge and her role as a Mentor and role model for Space4Women Network initiative, a program by UNOOSA (United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs) to inspire girls and women to pursue STEM and space careers.
Alice and Chiara will then talk about the advice they can give to young women who are interested in careers in the space and related sectors.
